mixed media project
My Project is a mixed media piece. I used oil pastels and water color. I wanted to create a visual representation of how it feels to drown in your feelings, I used weights tied to myself in the project to represent this. The color choices and visual elements I used help to represent the idea of drowning in your feelings

inspiration
My inspiration was portrait of Pierre (1889-1890) by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, I liked the style of his work, how he used his materials. I like how simple the work was yet held details that caught my attention. Like the way the eyes stand out compared to the rest of the face. I also took inspiration from the eyes making them stand out and be bold. I took inspiration from the face itself because it looks more full in color compared to other parts of the project. I wanted to use this project because I wanted to make a self portrait and my inspiration is a self portrait.
planning
I started by planning out how I wanted the project to look like, I started out with a planning sketch to work out the details of look for my project. I then started to plan on what materials I was going to use. My planning sketch was of me under water, so I thought using water colors to create more layered details would be a cool way to explore this idea but then I didn't like how patchy my watercolor was starting to look so I got the idea to use oil pastels to put in the details.
